Measure both parents
Measure both parents without shoes when possible. Choose centimeters or feet and inches, and use the same unit system for both. Accepted range is 100–250 cm-equivalent.
QUIET HEALTH UTILITY
Use this free height calculator to estimate a child’s adult height from two parent heights, understand the rough family range, and convert measurements between centimeters, feet, and inches.
PARENT HEIGHTS
Enter measured heights for both parents, choose an optional adjustment, and let the calculator show a transparent mid-parental estimate.
UNIT CONVERSION
Enter one value, choose its unit, and see the same measurement in centimeters, meters, feet, and inches.
Your entries stay in this browser for the calculation. The calculator does not need an account or a server-side calculation.
ESTIMATED ADULT HEIGHT
The calculator combines the two parent heights and the selected traditional adjustment. Read the result together with the approximate range.
(180 + 165) ÷ 2 + 6.35 = 178.85 cm
Use this as a general reference, not as a promise of final height or a medical assessment.
Update the inputs, then select Calculate height to replace the example result.
CONVERTED MEASUREMENT
The converter keeps the same measurement and only changes the way it is displayed. Rounded values are easier to read than long decimal strings.
1 inch equals 2.54 centimeters. Feet and inches are separated after the centimeter value is converted to total inches.
The old conversion is cleared when you edit the input. Select Convert height to see the new units.
This page provides a rough educational estimate. It does not measure height, diagnose a condition, or guarantee a final adult height.
A SIMPLE WORKFLOW
The adult-height mode is designed to answer one practical question quickly: what is a reasonable family-based estimate from two measured parent heights?
Measure both parents without shoes when possible. Choose centimeters or feet and inches, and use the same unit system for both. Accepted range is 100–250 cm-equivalent.
The traditional method adds about 6.35 cm for a boy, subtracts about 6.35 cm for a girl, or shows the midpoint with No adjustment.
Select Calculate height to see the adult estimate, feet-and-inches conversion, midpoint, adjustment, and approximate range.
Use the number as a family reference. Growth rate, puberty timing, health, nutrition, genetics, and measurement quality can change the final result.
INTERPRET THE NUMBER
The main result is a target-height estimate, not a promise. It averages the two parent heights and applies the selected traditional adjustment. With 180 cm and 165 cm, the midpoint is 172.5 cm; the Boy adjustment gives about 178.85 cm, displayed as 179 cm.
The range matters as much as the central number. Children follow different growth paths, and adult height is influenced by more than parent height. One result cannot tell you whether a child is healthy or needs treatment; a series of measurements and growth over time is more useful.
TRANSPARENT METHOD
The mid-parental height calculator uses a simple, reproducible estimate. You can check the arithmetic instead of relying on a hidden score.
(Parent 1 + Parent 2) ÷ 2 ± 6.35 cm
Add 6.35 cm for Boy, subtract 6.35 cm for Girl, or show the midpoint with No adjustment.
| Input or step | What it represents |
|---|---|
| Parent 1 + Parent 2 | The two measured parent heights after they are converted to centimeters. |
| ÷ 2 | The average of the two parent heights, also called the parent-height midpoint. |
| +/− 6.35 cm | The traditional sex-based adjustment used by the selected calculator option. |
| Approximate range | A broad reference band around the estimate, not a guaranteed outcome. |
In inches, average the two parent heights and add about 2.5 inches for a boy or subtract 2.5 inches for a girl. Since 1 inch equals 2.54 cm, the calculator converts feet-and-inches inputs to centimeters before calculating.
For the example, (180 + 165) ÷ 2 + 6.35 = 178.85 cm. The page rounds this to 179 cm and converts it for feet-and-inches readers. Rounding improves readability; it does not add precision.
The method is quick and transparent, but it is rough. Genetic variation, measurement error, nutrition, health, and puberty timing can affect growth. Discuss concerns with a qualified healthcare professional.
CM TO FEET AND MORE
The converter is built into the tool for quick changes between centimeters, meters, decimal feet, and total inches. It covers common searches such as height calculator cm to feet and feet to cm.
For example, 170 cm is about 1.70 m, 5.58 decimal feet, 5 ft 6.9 in, or 66.93 total inches. Practical rounding keeps the result readable.
HONEST LIMITS
This height calculator is a general education tool. It explains a family-height estimate, but it cannot measure a person, predict an exact height, or replace medical advice.
The method gives a target and broad range. Actual adult height may fall outside it; the result is not 100% accurate.
Growth velocity and a series of reliable measurements are usually more useful than one predictor result.
The arithmetic runs in your browser. Parent heights, the adjustment, and converter values are not sent to an API or added to the URL.
For growth concerns, discuss measurements and family history with a qualified clinician. Do not use this tool to make treatment decisions.
The estimate follows the traditional mid-parental approach. Percentiles require a defined reference population and should not be improvised from averages.
A DIFFERENT QUESTION
A height percentile compares a child’s current measurement with a reference population for age and sex. It does not predict adult height; growth consistency over time matters more.
A chart-based tool must name its population, age limits, units, and method. Use an established CDC or WHO chart and ask a professional to interpret the trend.
A percentile feature needs a validated CDC or WHO dataset, clear age limits, and careful explanations.

Answers cover the calculation, measurements, limits, and growth guidance.
It is a rough family estimate, not an exact prediction. Genetics, health, nutrition, development, and growth timing can change adult height.
It averages two parent heights and applies the selected adjustment: +6.35 cm for Boy, −6.35 cm for Girl, or no adjustment.
It estimates a child’s target adult height from both parent heights. It is an educational method, not a clinical growth evaluation.
Yes. Enter centimeters or feet and inches. Results show centimeters and feet/inches; the converter also supports meters, decimal feet, and total inches.
Not in this MVP. Percentiles need a named chart population and careful age and sex handling. Use an established CDC or WHO chart for reference.
It is intended for a child’s expected adult height. Adults can use converter mode to change a known height into other units.
Use measured parent heights without shoes when possible, keep units consistent, and avoid treating guessed values as precise.
The arithmetic runs locally without an account, API request, URL parameter, or required storage step. Site-wide privacy and advertising disclosures still apply.
